30 January 2011 – Will Gale Wins at PFi International Kart Circuit

Posted: January 30, 2011 in Press Releases

Twelve year old Derby-based karter Will Gale hit the trophy trail at the PFi International Kart Circuit on Sunday, winning the Rookie Trophy in just his second ever karting event. Temporarily sidelined from his involvement with a professional football club’s academy team by a reoccurring virus, Will got out of his sick bed to contest the first round of Trent Valley Kart Club’s Winter Championship.

Will Gale said, “It was great to win my first trophy but even better that my sector times gave me the fastest lap time of the day. Now I know I can beat those factory teams.”

RamTec Motorsport team boss David Gale said, “Will’s performance was outstanding in any circumstances but given how poorly he’s been all week, I can only assume that he did the whole event on adrenaline. It’s very satisfying to achieve success so early on with our little team against the big, well-funded factory teams that are involved in karting. With both Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton having cut their teeth in the Trent Valley Championships, there is huge interest and massive sponsorship investment in karting from companies keen to cash-in on the marketing potential of these young stars, some of whom are undoubtedly destined for Formula 1. We’re still looking for commercial partners to share in Will’s success but I guess we have that magic ingredient: a genuinely fast driver.”
